Help send rescued monkey to sanctuary in the UK

Animals Lebanon was finally able to close down a zoo in early February and rescue nearly 40 animals from this terrible place - most have found permanent homes already.

We now need your help to send the three rescued monkeys to the Wales Ape and Monkey Sanctuary in the UK (www.ape-monkey-rescue.org.uk).

These endangered African primates, two male Hamadryas baboons named Stany and Moyale and a female Mona monkey named Chewy,  just cannot be cared for properly in Lebanon.  But at such a specialized sanctuary, started more than 10 years ago by Jan and Graham Garen, these monkeys have the chance to live out their lives in as close to a natural setting as possible.

Middle East Airlines very generously offered to bring to Lebanon purpose built transport crates from the sanctuary, and to safely fly the monkeys from Beirut to the sanctuary.  These crates are necessary to comply with the international regulations of transporting animals.

This donation of flights by MEA saved thousands of dollars, but we still need your support now.

These highly endangered primates will go permanently to the Wales Ape and Monkey Sanctuary, and can live for another twenty or more years.  The cost to get the monkeys to the sanctuary is minimal compared to the funds needed to care for them for the rest of their lives.  Instead of cages they will get to live in more natural enclosures, fed healthy diets, and have access to proper veterinary care but these are all ongoing expenses for the sanctuary.

Please donate to Animals Lebanon here, or directly to the sanctuary here and lets see these three monkeys finally get a chance to climb, to enjoy trees and grass, and to just be themselves!
